Route 3: “The Dew of Moldova’s Codri”
First a visit to the Cojusna Winery, where you can become familiar with the technical stages involved in processing grapes, while the unusual architectural style of the tasting rooms will encourage you to taste the wines offered by the local winemakers. The itinerary offers you the chance to visit the oldest monasteries in Moldova: Capriana (1427), Varzaresti (1420) and Hincu (17th century). At Lozova you could explore the well-known Scientific Nature Reserve “Codrii” with its impressive Nature Museum, and at Dolna you have the opportunity to admire the Ralli- Arbore Manor and its charming surroundings, often visited by the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.
Not far away from here there is another wine centre, Nisporeni, renowned as a producer of wines, strong drinks and sparkling wines. If you wish you can also visit several popular handicraft centres in this area (Nisporeni - icons; Lozova – embroidery, carpets and towels; Iurceni – basketry and pottery). To round the day off, a visit to the “Vinuri-Ialoveni” winery will teach you how to appreciate the fragrance and subtlety of the finest sherries.
